“Exploring the World, One Destination at a Time!”

Ireland

I spent a week in Ireland in May 2022. The weather was amazing for this trip. I immediately felt a since of being “home” once I started my journey, although it had been my first time ever being in Ireland! Everything from the people, the food, the weather, and the views… I fell in love with it all.

(scroll to the end for the full itinerary)

Dublin

My first stop was Dublin! I opted in renting a car from the airport to begin the journey. (Driving on the right side of the car and on the left side of the road took some getting used to, but was not difficult to overcome!) Stayed for two nights at Louis Fitzgerald Hotel. On the first day I visited the Dublin Castle which was a beautiful building, so much history. I then visited the Guinness Brewery Storehouse which was a great experience! The tour takes you through the process of creating the beer which was very knowledgeable for someone who isn’t a fan of beer. I did do the tasting and I will say it was pretty strong taste, but after the second sip, it was much better.

On the second day I visited the Jameson Distillery and that is a must if you enjoy whisky. I was able to bottle my own bottle from an exclusive Black Barrel triple distilled that is only available at the distillery. Learned so much about the making of whisky and was able to have a few samples on the tour. After the tour, I ate at a Sparks Bistro, right next to the distillery, which offered a wide range of items such as burgers, pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches, and so much more. I had the Margherita Pizza, and would recommend.

Cliffs of Moher

The following day I embarked on a three hour journey from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher! This destination was on the top of my to do list! This place is a must see! The views are beautiful, and the cliffs stand as a testament to the raw beauty and power of nature. I fell in love with this place!

Located on the rugged west coast of Ireland, these majestic cliffs stretch for about 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) along the coastline, reaching heights of up to 214 meters (702 feet) at their highest point.

As you approach the cliffs, the sheer size and grandeur of this natural wonder are breathtaking. The cliffs’ jagged edges are carved by centuries of wind and waves, creating a dramatic and rugged coastline that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen! Visiting the Cliffs of Moher is an unforgettable experience; I did not want to leave! I must have sat for what felt like hours, just feeling so much peace and serenity; appreciating God’s creation.

Galway

After visiting the cliffs, I spent two nights in Galway in an Airbnb with amazing hosts. This city was so vibrant and colorful! Galway is a city that captures the heart and soul of all who visit. With its warm hospitality, rich cultural heritage, and stunning surroundings, Galway truly has something for everyone. Make sure to visit!

During my stay, I had a memorable dining experience at Pier Head restaurant, which came highly recommended by our Airbnb host. Despite arriving near closing time, the owner kindly reopened the kitchen for me. I enjoyed a delicious salmon dish and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Galway.

Following dinner, I ventured to Tully’s, a local pub, as recommended by the waiter at Pier Head. It was an authentic Irish pub experience, complete with lively music from a local flutist. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the music added a special touch to an already wonderful evening. Tully’s is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the true spirit of Ireland in Galway!

Giant’s Causeway- Northern Ireland

After two nights in Galway I headed on the next five hour journey to Northern Ireland. I will say, that the drives throughout Ireland were mesmerizing. I loved driving throughout Ireland, so please make sure to rent a car for you to enjoy every turning corner as I did.

Visiting the Giant’s Causeway is a truly an experience. It did begin to rain when I arrived, but as you walk along the ancient stones, you can’t help but feel a sense of wonder at the forces of nature that shaped this incredible landscape. The Giant’s Causeway is a geological marvel. So many perfectly lined stones create the foundation to this wonderful place. Make sure to add this place to your list if you are ever in Northern Ireland.

Belfast

Made my way towards Belfast in Northern Ireland to visit the Titanic Museum. As you enter the museum, you are immediately immersed in the story of the Titanic, from its conception and construction in the Harland and Wolff shipyards to its tragic sinking on its maiden voyage. The museum’s exhibits are thoughtfully curated, featuring a wealth of artifacts, and it’s recreation of the ship’s interiors, allowing visitors to experience firsthand the opulence and grandeur of the Titanic’s luxurious cabins, dining rooms, and grand staircase, bringing the Titanic’s story to life.

Outside the museum, you can visit the historic slipways where the Titanic and her sister ship, the Olympic, were launched, adding a sense of authenticity and connection to the Titanic’s history.

The museum is a testament to the enduring fascination with this legendary ship and its place in history as a symbol of human ambition, innovation, and tragedy.

Saying Goodbye to Ireland

I ended my trip back in Dublin. My road trip through this beautiful land was nothing short of magnificent, filled with breathtaking scenery, charming towns, and warm hospitality at every turn. From the stunning Cliffs of Moher to the historic streets of Galway, each destination was more captivating than the last.

One of the highlights of my trip was the Wild Atlantic Way, a scenic driving route that winds along Ireland’s rugged western coast. The ever-changing views of the Atlantic Ocean, dramatic cliffs, and picturesque villages made for an unforgettable drive. I sampled delicious local cuisine and enjoyed traditional music in cozy pubs. Don’t forget to try a Baby Guinness if you ever visit an Irish pub!

But what truly made my trip unforgettable was the people I met along the way. From the friendly locals, my Airbnb host, who shared stories and recommendations, to being in line at a gas station to pay for snacks, and locals asking me to go in front of them and cut in line to pay with a smile on their face.

As I reluctantly made my way out of Ireland, my heart was full of memories and my mind already planning my next adventure back in Ireland. The beauty of this country, both in its landscapes and its people, has left an indelible mark on me, and I know that Ireland will always hold a special place in my heart.

Until we meet again, Ireland, I’ll hold onto the memories of our journey together, and I’ll eagerly await the day when I can once again traverse your winding roads and revel in your endless beauty.
